Boštjan Škrlec was appointed National Member for Slovenia in July 2017. He served as Vice-President of Eurojust from November 2020 until December 2024. He is currently chairing Board of Relations with Partners of Eurojust. Mr Škrlec has over 20 years of experience in the judiciary and began his career as a State Prosecutor in 1999. Before joining Eurojust, he was Director General at the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Slovenia. During his professional career, he has been involved in international relations and cooperation. He participated in numerous international projects and worked with international institutions in the field of criminal justice. He has been a member of the Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures (MONEYVAL) at the Council of Europe since 2005, and is currently participating in the work of its European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT).
In 2007, during the Slovenian EU Presidency, Mr Škrlec chaired the working group negotiating the Council Decision on the strengthening of Eurojust. From 2008 to 2012, he served as the State Secretary at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Slovenia. He actively participated in preparation and adoption of legislation introducing important reforms, such as the introduction of plea-bargaining in criminal procedure and the establishment of the Specialised State Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Slovenia.
Anita Veternik is the Deputy National Member for Slovenia at Eurojust from February 2025. Prior to this, she served as the Head of the Centre of Expertise and IT at the Supreme State Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Slovenia, where she was actively involved in various projects aimed at increasing the level of digitalisation in the operations of the prosecution service. In 2023, she was appointed Slovenia’s representative to the Advisory Group and, in 2024, to the project board for the JITs Collaboration Platform (JITs CP, eu-LISA). As part of the WB3C project, she delivered a training session in Podgorica on international cooperation and crypto-assets. She was a trainer and working group member in the EXEC II project, supporting Slovenia’s integration into the e-EDES portal for mutual legal assistance. Between 2020 and 2023, she served as Assistant to the National Member for Slovenia at Eurojust. Between 2016 and 2024, she acted as the Contact Point for the EJCN, where she led the Crypto Assets Subgroup during the last two years of her mandate. At the Supreme State Prosecutor’s Office, she also led the Working Group on Professional and Practical Issues Related to the Prosecution of Cyber-Enabled Crime, where she was responsible, for organising training activities for its members. Her work has consistently focused on issues and challenges related to electronic evidence, international cooperation, mandatory data retention, and developments in the field of virtual currencies.
