This introductory leaflet describes the migrant smuggling challenge in the EU, and Eurojust’s role in addressing it. It highlights the work of the Migrant Smuggling Focus Group coordinated by Eurojust, composed of specialised investigating judges and prosecutors from across the EU Member States and third countries.

As a central hub used to regularly connect key national judicial actors, the Focus Group supports Member States and countries with a cooperation agreement with Eurojust in their joint response to migrant smuggling. Information on how to join the Focus Group and cooperation with third countries are highlighted. Statistics on Eurojust-referred migrant smuggling cases and case examples are also showcased.
