Evert van Walsum takes office as Administrative Director of Eurojust

Mr Evert van Walsum has begun his four-year mandate as Administrative Director of Eurojust today, 1 March 2023, following his appointment by the College of the Agency in autumn 2022. In his new role, Mr van Walsum will be responsible for the day-to-day administration and staff management, ensuring full support for the operational work of the Agency.

The European Union faces an unprecedented challenge as a war rages at its borders, and I take pride in contributing to the work of an EU agency that plays a crucial role in ensuring accountability for the crimes committed in this conflict. Moreover, Eurojust is currently providing support for a record number of cross-border criminal cases. In this complex operational landscape, I am fully committed to advancing our mission of ensuring justice is done and making Europe a safer place for everyone.'

Evert van Walsum is a Dutch national who has held managerial positions of increasing responsibility at national and European financial regulators. Before joining Eurojust, he served as the Head of the Investors and Issuers Department at the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). Mr van Walsum holds a Masters in Law from the University of Amsterdam and an MBA from INSEAD Fontainebleau and Singapore.
