Eurojust and Norway signed a Cooperation Agreement in April 2005, with the first Liaison Prosecutor taking up his duties later the same year. Norway was the first third country to assign a Liaison Prosecutor to Eurojust. Since his appointment in September 2023, Rudolf Christoffersen is the Liaison Prosecutor for Norway.

In 2023, the Norwegian Liaison Prosecutor was involved in 77 new cases, 14 coordination meetings, 1 coordination centre, and 13 joint investigation teams.

Liaison Prosecutor

Rudolf Christoffersen was appointed Liaison Prosecutor for Norway in Sepember 2023. Mr Christoffersen holds a law degree from the University of Bergen and has worked as a public prosecutor in Bergen for many years, the last six of which focused on financial crimes. Prior to that, from 2015 to 2017, he worked as deputy to the Norwegian Liaison Prosecutor at Eurojust.

Mr Christoffersen was also a member of the Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA) at the Council of Europe from 2017 until 2021 and has for many years conducted training programmes in several countries on different forms of human trafficking, including online sexual abuse of children. He is also a member of a Norwegian public expert committee to explore and assess legal issues in cases concerning negative social control (cohesive control), honour-based violence, forced marriage, female genital mutilation and psychological violence.

Deputy Liaison Prosecutor

Vegar Munthe Ommedal was appointed Deputy Liaison Prosecutor for Norway in August 2019. Mr Ommedal began his career as a prosecutor with the Oslo Police District in 2004. He has been working as a police prosecutor in several departments of the Oslo Police District over the years and was Head of the Prosecutors Office at the Organised Crime Unit in the Oslo Police District from 2013 to 2016. Mr Ommedal has also been working as a prosecutor at the National Criminal Investigation Service in Norway (NCIS) and as a lawyer at the National Security Police. Prior to joining Eurojust, he was working as a prosecutor at the Organised Crime Unit in the Oslo Police District.
