H.E. Alle Dorhout, the recently appointed Ambassador at Large and Special Envoy for Counterterrorism at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, paid a courtesy visit yesterday to Eurojust and met with the President, Michèle Coninsx.
The role of the Special Envoy for Counterterrorism is the principal task of the Ambassador at Large. The Special Envoy is responsible for strengthening the role of the Netherlands in the international fight against terrorism. He works closely with the Office of the National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism (NCTV) and other relevant agencies in tackling terrorist funding mechanisms and dealing with foreign terrorist fighters.
The visit allowed Ambassador Dorhout to familiarise himself with the work of Eurojust and explore possibilities for a close collaboration in fighting cross-border terrorism.
Alle Dorhout graduated from the University of Groningen, and began a long career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, dealing with dossiers as varied as EU enlargement, Africa, and the political division. Prior to his appointment as Ambassador in August 2017, he was the Master of Ceremonies to His Majesty the King. Ambassador Dorhout replaces Mr Piet de Klerk as Special Envoy.
