Yesterday, Ms Michèle Coninsx, President of Eurojust, and Ms Malči Gabrijelčič, Chair of the Eurojust External Relations Team, hosted a full-day visit to Eurojust by a high-ranking delegation from Tunisia. Tunisia is one of the priority countries for Eurojust’s external relations.
The objective of the visit was to explore possibilities for strengthening the cooperation between Eurojust and Tunisia at operational and strategic levels in the common fight against serious cross-border organised crime and terrorism. The participants discussed issues related to mutual legal assistance and extradition and the support from Eurojust in cases involving EU Member States and Tunisia.
Eurojust welcomed the recent appointment by Tunisia of a specific Eurojust contact point for counter-terrorism matters. This step is important in facilitating the exchange of information and increasing judicial cooperation between the EU Member States and Tunisia to ensure successful investigations, prosecutions and convictions in terrorism cases.
