On 3 November, 39 prosecutors and judges visited Eurojust in the framework of a European Judicial Training Network (EJTN) Exchange Programme, organised by the Studiecentrum Rechtspleging (Training and Study Centre for the Judiciary, or SSR).
Mr Koen Hermans, Assistant to the National Member for the Netherlands, hosted the visit and gave a presentation on the work of Eurojust.
The EJTN Exchange Programme was launched in 2003 on the initiative of the European Parliament for the benefit of EU legal practitioners, judges, future judges and prosecutors, and judicial trainers, to help them understand the work of their counterparts throughout the European Union. The programme is funded by the European Commission.
The SSR, since its establishment in 1960, has been the joint training institute of the Dutch judicial system and the Public Prosecution Service, independent from the Ministry of Justice. Its main office is located in Utrecht, and it also operates local training sites throughout the Netherlands.
