Dr Peter Frank, the Federal Public Prosecutor General of Germany, visited Eurojust yesterday. He met the President of Eurojust, Michèle Coninsx, and the National Member for Germany, Klaus Meyer-Cabri, along with the other members of the German Desk at Eurojust.
The in-depth exchange with the President of Eurojust focused mainly on the fight against terrorism, including foreign fighters. Dr Frank and Ms Coninsx emphasized that fighting terrorism successfully requires strong and enhanced European and international cooperation and coordination, which Eurojust provides in a most efficient fashion.
Dr Frank was appointed Federal Public Prosecutor General in October 2015, following a distinguished career in the judiciary of the German State of Bavaria, his last position being Public Prosecutor General of Munich.
The Federal Public Prosecutor General is responsible for representing the Federal Public Prosecutor‘s Office in appeals proceedings at the Federal Court of Justice and leading investigations and prosecutions in the field of genocide, crimes against humanity under international law, war crimes, wars of aggression, state security, espionage and terrorism.
