The President of Eurojust, Ms Michèle Coninsx, made a three-day visit to Estonia, 25 – 27 May, at the invitation of the Estonian Prosecutor General, Mrs Lavly Perling. During the visit, Ms Coninsx was accompanied by the National Member for Estonia at Eurojust, Mr Raivo Sepp.
The purpose of the visit was to strengthen the mutual relations between Eurojust and the Prosecutor General’s Office of Estonia. Consequently, several working meetings were organised with the Estonian judicial authorities at the highest official level. Throughout the meetings, Ms Coninsx presented the operational work of Eurojust, notably in the fight against organised crime and terrorism.
On the first day, Ms Coninsx met the Prosecutor General as well as the Chief State Prosecutor, Mr Steven-Hristo Evestus, and the Senior Prosecutor, Mrs Külli Saks.
On the second day, Ms Coninsx visited the Tallinn Circuit Court. She also met with the Head Director of the Estonian Internal Security Service, Mr Arnold Sinsalu, and the Director of the Estonian Forensic Science Institute, Mr Üllar Lanno. Ms Coninsx then met with the Minister of Justice, H.E. Mr Urmas Reinsalu. On the same day, Ms Coninsx was interviewed by the Estonian national television channel, ETV.
Meeting with the Prime Minister
On the final day, Ms Coninsx met with the Prime Minister, Mr Taavi Rõivas, members of the press, and the Chairman of the Constitutional Committee in the Parliament of the Republic of Estonia, Mr Kalle Laanet.
