H.E. Mr Wolfgang Brandstetter, Austrian Minister of Justice, visited Eurojust on 20 April during his mission to The Hague. The Minister met with Mr Ladislav Hamran, Vice-President of Eurojust, and Ms Gabriela Hornbeck, National Member for Austria, along with the Austrian Desk, to discuss Eurojust’s focus areas, including the fight against terrorism, drug trafficking, human trafficking and money laundering.
Minister Brandstetter said:
‘The current political events in the European Union are a testimony to the importance of Eurojust’s work. When one calls for enhanced cooperation among Member States in the prevention of terrorism or the fight against money laundering, one must in the same breath discuss building Eurojust’s capacity. Optimal coordination and cooperation between European judicial authorities is of enormous importance to guaranteeing the basic values of freedom and security for all EU citizens.’
Minister Brandstetter was appointed in December 2013.
