The 19th International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) Annual Conference and General Meeting, Good prosecution practices; learning from each other, took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 23 to 27 November 2014.
The conference attracted high-level participants from around the world, including Ministers of Justice, Prosecutors General, Attorneys General, and Directors of Public Prosecution, as well as representatives from international organisations such as the UN, the UNODC, the ICC, and the ICTY. In attendance from Eurojust were Michèle Coninsx, President of Eurojust, Han Moraal, National Member for the Netherlands and Chair of IAP’s Global Prosecutors E-Crime Network (GPEN), and Josip Čule, National Member for Croatia.
Ms Coninsx acted as a panelist (‘facilitator’) in the 2nd session Special Interest Group Meeting on Counter-Terrorism, the goal of which was to explore the potential for setting up a counter-terrorism network under the auspices of the IAP. Mr Moraal acted as facilitator in the 3rd session Special Interest Group (SIGM) on GPEN.
The International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) was established in 1995 at the UN’s offices in Vienna in response to the growth in cross-border crime, particularly drug trafficking, money laundering and fraud. The IAP is the only worldwide organisation of prosecutors, with more than 160 organisational members from 140 different jurisdictions as well as many individual members.
