A successful meeting with Eurojust Contact Points and Liaison Magistrates appointed by Member States just concluded. The meeting, held at Eurojust’s premises in The Hague on 16 and 17 October, was entitled Complementarity, synergies and cooperation. Forty Liaison Magistrates and Contact Points from all over the world attended, as well as Eurojust College and administration members and a representative from the European Commission.
The meeting was co-chaired by Ms Malči Gabrijelčič, National Member for Slovenia and Chair of Eurojust’s External Relations Team, and Ms Jolien Kuitert, Deputy to the National Member for the Netherlands and Chair of Eurojust’s EJN & Liaison Magistrates Team. The President of Eurojust, Ms Michèle Coninsx, opened the meeting.
Thirteen guest speakers gave presentations on the challenges faced in international cooperation, what Eurojust, Liaison Magistrates and Contact Points can offer each other, and working methodology. Two workshops were conducted on the same topics. Presentations were given on international legal assistance, exchange of information, the role of the European Judicial Network, and the draft Guide for Cooperation between Eurojust and Eurojust Contact Points.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Mses Gabrijelčič and Kuitert expressed their satisfaction: ‘Opportunities to meet our colleagues from all over the world are rare, and we are very pleased with the level of practical and constructive participation over these past two days. We look forward to improving the level of cooperation with these vital partners even further.’
