On the final day of hearings for the new Commissioner candidates, Frans Timmermans, the nominee for First Vice-President of the new European Commission, in charge of Better Regulation, Inter-Institutional Relations, the Rule of Law and the Charter of Fundamental Rights, yesterday (7 October) answered questions covering terrorism and foreign fighters, among many other questions. In particular, he underlined the European Arrest Warrant as being a great success, the need for judicial cooperation, and the need to achieve concrete results in his areas of responsibility.
According to the EU Observer, Mr Timmermans ‘sailed through his three-hour hearing in the European Parliament’.
If selected, Mr Timmermans will take up his new post at the beginning of November.
