On 20 June, the President of Eurojust, Ms Michèle Coninsx, and Vice-President Mr Francisco Jiménez-Villarejo, hosted the visit of Judge Wojciech Postulski, the recently appointed Secretary General of the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN). Judge Postulski was accompanied by Ms Aude Magen, Programme Manager for the Exchange Programme Department.
Different forms of cooperation were discussed and experience shared. Since 2011, long-term traineeships have been hosted by Eurojust’s National Desks. These traineeships have been extremely valuable and beneficial to the work of Eurojust. The EJTN would also like to reintroduce short-term visits and to increase the role of Eurojust in the preparations of EJTN seminars. Eurojust and the EJTN discussed and agreed on methods of strengthening cooperation. In particular, Eurojust will look into an amendment to the long-term traineeship scheme (4th additional month) and one- week study visits at Eurojust.
Eurojust signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the EJTN that entered into force on 1 March 2008. The MoU establishes and regulates cooperation between Eurojust and the EJTN in the field of judicial training.
The EJTN is the principal platform and promoter for the development, training and exchange of knowledge and competence of the EU judiciary. Founded in 2000, the EJTN develops training standards and curriculum, coordinates judicial training exchanges and programmes and fosters cooperation between EU national training bodies.
Mr Francisco Jiménez-Villarejo was the former contact point for Eurojust. On 3 June 2014, the College appointed Mr Kamen Mihov(the National Member for Bulgaria at Eurojust) as the new contact point. Mr Mihov will meet with Judge Postulski on 4 July in Brussels.
