Purpose made building

In mid-2017, Eurojust moved to its custom made and permanent premises in the International Zone of The Hague. The office building was designed by an integrated design team comprised of Mecanoo Architects, Royal Haskoning DHV and DS landscape architects. The Eurojust Building is a purpose built facility, constructed and owned by the Dutch state and rented to Eurojust. The building can accommodate up to 400 employees and has been tailored to Eurojust’s mission to develop and enhance judicial cooperation, coordination and mutual trust in the European Union’s fight against organised serious cross-border crime.

The location chosen for Eurojust fits in nicely with the ambition of the municipality to consolidate The Hague’s international organisations within the World Forum Area and the International Zone.

The Eurojust building has a timeless, modern and efficient look and feel. The building and especially the landscape have been designed so as to respect the contextual natural, semi-residential and office characteristics of its surroundings. The dune landscape with its soft slopes, water features and grassy vegetation were created to lend a recognisable identity to the public space and the historical landscape of the area, while at the same time incorporating some necessary security measures in a natural way.

The building's architecture represents the core values of Eurojust. The light facade is composed of panels alternatingly tilt forwards and backwards, to the left and to the right. They create intricate reflections of the sky as well as the surrounding dune landscape, whilst giving depth to the facade.

The interior lay-out encourages interaction, collaboration and mutual trust between the key operational stakeholders at Eurojust by facilitating face to face meetings and bringing the different strands of Eurojust together in one place. This will enable Eurojust to better assist the Member States in their fight against crime across borders. The use of natural materials, a neutral colour palette, and a high-quality finish, result in a pleasant working environment, perfectly suited to the many nationalities that Eurojust represents.

The office building and its premises cover 18,548m2 meters and are home to more than 400 workplaces and dedicated state-of-the-art conference and interpretation facilities.

A connected underground parking space of more than 7000 m2 can facilitate 276 cars and 100 bicycles for employees and visitors. It is equipped with a number of electric charging points to stimulate driving electric vehicles to and from work.
